More new Photos...

I thought I would share just a few more pictures from my trip to Thailand at the beginning of 2006. I also just noticed that I started this post in December, but never posted it.

James Bond Island

Monument to a fallen hero.

Moorish Idol

The head of an idol, being idle in a veritable idyll.
Nothing like the topical application of a tropical topic, as long as you preclude any sub-integumentary infiltration.
Such an idealistic collection of ideologic meanderings in such idyllic surroundings could tend to make one a bit vertiginous, to say the least.

I do have some favorites from days gone by....

These pitcher plants I photographed on the floating islands in Richardson Lake, Maine, on a boat ride with the Childs, in the 80's.

Taken in Pennsylvania in the 70's

I suppose I should feel some remorse for what I am about to perpetrate on the unsuspecting web explorers who chance upon this obscure, ethereal monologue. However, there is that within me that blithely forges ahead into flights of fancy that those of my ilk are so often wont to do. Therefore, with the cessation of this obscure and overly verbose method of stating my lack of shame or apology, I bequeath this seasonal banality to one and all….

This is a scan from a mug (or sometimes referred to as a mug shot) that was bestowed upon me long ago during just such a festive month in which we find ourselves. Somehow I couldn't keep it to myself.

New Photos

I have been apprised of the fact that I have been remiss in sharing my photos. Unfortunately, I have let my love of photography languish for a number of years. I have continued to take "snapshots", but not really with a view to utilizing the skills I learned over the years. More recently I have entered into a renaissance with regards to my photos. As time permits I will begin to bridge the gap between my "Old Photos" and my more contemporary efforts. I appreciate your indulgence as I explore the revival of seeing a photo op in every situation.
The following are a few of my more recent attempts.

This photo was taken beside a temple in Bangkok, Thailand. They had these great urns, nearly three feet across, in which they had these little mini ponds.
I liked this particular flower, as it looked as if it were on fire in the center, glowing almost white hot.

We visited my daughter in Thailand at the end of December 2005. We saw many strange and wonderful sights.

This is a boat that Jonathan and David owned for about one year. They fixed it up, and then sold it. Great fun was had by all before it was gone.
This lake is called Panther Pond. In the great Maine tradition, sometimes lakes can be as small as one mile across eg. Canton Lake; or as in this case a Pond is three by five miles. I love it.

As we were driving over to Quaker Ridge, which overlooks Panther Pond, this flock of turkeys presented themselves for my photographing pleasure.

Amazing how it can be beautiful, even when the tide is out.
This is taken at Phang Na Bay, Krabi, Thailand. We stayed here for several days, at the beginning of this year.

What's wrong with this picture?

Well...
Nancy was coming home from church, rounded the curve and lost control. Our new plow guy needs some lessons in enough sanding for our hill. It didn't help that the jimmy wasn't in 4 wheel drive.
O well...
Thank God for AAA.

Here's pix

finally, I got all the pix on here

Found Pix

This post is for pictures I have found on the internet that caught my eye, or have some humor in them.

This one is from webshots.

That's not safe!
I didn't keep track of where this one came from.

More Old Pix
The first three I took for my Black and White Photo Class at Southern in the '70's
The last one I took on a Pathfinder Campout in the '80's. We were supposed to find something in nature that applied biblically.

These scans are from 8x10 prints that I made for the class. We had to learn to develop, and then print our own photos.

The Kitten is very happy on this cold day. If you look closely, he is on a furry surface. It's the back of a horse. I put him up there to see what he would do, and he curled up happily and stayed there.

Queen Anne's Lace

This lizard wanted me to know that this was his territory. Hence the "chin-up".

This old barn looked ready to fall at any moment. I feel that way sometimes. (old and rickety)

Brazen Serpent
Freeport, Maine
I held this little guy so long that he just sat there when I put him on the twig.
